The forecast is currently as follows:
The hot weather is expected to carry on into this week with the potential for some thunderstorms to develop later on today and into Tuesday, with frequent lightning and gusty winds looking to be the main hazards rather than heavy rainfall. More generally breezy conditions are also expected at times this week, with the possibility of further thunderstorms later in the week. There remains uncertainty over how long the higher temperatures will last with high pressure looking to dominate.
Please see the attached email(s), share with your service areas, consider the impacts on your Business Continuity and implement any relevant actions within your own service plans and as per your allocated roles in the NSC Severe Weather (cold / heat) Response Plan.
The EMU will continue to monitor all alerts and warnings received and will cascade updates and changes to the forecast.
At this stage we will not be activating the NSC Severe Weather Co-ordination Group, however, please raise any Business Continuity issues to the EMU (emu@n-somerset.gov.uk) to allow us to consider activating the Severe Weather Co-ordination Group if required.
