Social Care Expansion Workforce Project

The Council of Deans of Health, in partnership with Skills for Care and the Department for Health and Social Care (July 2025) launched a new social care Nursing and Allied Health Professionals placement strategy to increase the number and quality of placement opportunities for healthcare learners in social care settings.

To support this Project and Strategy the BNNSG Workforce team created a short video highlighting the benefits to learners of a social care placement. Working closely with Care and Support West (C&SW), filming took place in July in Collingwood Residential home in South Gloucestershire. The T Level, Paramedic and Nursing learners featured volunteered their time for the filming day to support other learners and explain what they learned and why they felt it enhanced their learning.

‘Working with Lizzy Hilliam and her team at Collingwood was brilliant and we will ensure this video is shown to all health and social care learners across all colleges and universities to showcase the careers available.’

Karen Burbige (BNSSG).

The video will be open access for all social care settings and educational establishments to use to showcase social care placements and be part of the culture change to ensure health and social care are entwined in health care courses.
