The 2023/24 Data Security & Protection Toolkit is now available

The updated Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) for 2023/24 is now available and care providers are encouraged to complete their latest assessment.

The DSPT should be completed at least once a year to ensure it reflects your most recent data and cyber security arrangements. You need to have an up-to-date DSPT if you intend to use it as evidence for CQC inspections. The deadline for completing the 2023-24 DSPT is 30 June 2024.

There have been some small changes to the toolkit since the 2022/23 version:

  • When publishing assessments, HQ and non-HQ organisations can select branches that were manually added by Exeter helpdesk in their previous DSPT submission.

  • Auditors and admins can now expand and view all previously saved key-finding text on the check my answers screen.

If you have previously published at Approaching Standards, you should continue to work on your action plan to achieve a Standards Met assessment for 2023/24.

If you have already reached Standards Met, it is easy to review and republish your toolkit. Your answers from last year will still be available to view – you just need to check your responses to see if they need to be updated. Once you are happy with your responses, you can republish.

If you are a multi-site organisation don’t forget to select all sites you are publishing for before submitting your assessment.
