Spring Covid-19 vaccination programme which starts on 17 April
Please find information on the spring Covid-19 vaccination programme which starts on 17 April attached. People who are eligible can book appointments, now, and GPs have already started visiting care homes to vaccinate.
This spring, people most vulnerable to a Covid-19 infection are being offered a spring vaccination – people aged 75 and over, those living in care homes and people aged five and over with severe immunosuppression.
People who are eligible are able to book a vaccination appointment using the online National Booking Service or by calling 119. The appointments will be from 17 April. They can also attend a community walk-in clinic and a list of these can be found at www.grabajab.net. In the meantime, GPs have started visiting care homes to offer residents their spring Covid-19 vaccination.
This spring, the NHS is offering a further vaccination to those at highest risk of severe illness from COVID. This is people aged 75 and over (by 30 June 2023), people with a weakened immune system, and residents of care homes for older adults.
30 June 2023 is the end date of the current offer of first and second COVID vaccinations for everyone aged five on or before 31 August last year. Anyone who hasn’t had any COVID-19 vaccinations, but would like to have both their first and second does, needs to book and have their first dose on our before 5 May 2023. After 30 June 2023, you will not be able to get your second dose unless you are at higher risk from severe COVID-19.
Those who are eligible for a COVID vaccination can book using the NHS App or visit nhs.uk/CovidVaccination or call 119 for free. They can also attend a community walk-in clinic and a list of these can be found at www.grabajab.net.
