Webinar: Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and opportunities for land diversification

  • Care and Support West Gladstone Drive Bristol, England, BS16 4RU United Kingdom (map)

The Real Estate team at RWK Goodman have teamed up with other experts to host a webinar on the Biodiversity Net Gain obligation, including legal developments and practical implications for both developers and landowners.

What is Biodiversity Net Gain?

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) regulations, which come into force in November 2023, consist of a new obligation on all planning permissions and development consent orders (DCOs) to improve the environment by at least 10% as a compulsory planning condition. However given how this can be achieved by offsite provision it opens opportunities for those interested in diversifying the usage of their land holdings. We will also talk generally about options for land diversification.

The experts

Rob Walton, partner in RWK Goodman’s Real Estate team, will summarise the upcoming legal changes and explore the practical applications for both developers as well as landowners.

His talk will be followed up by Joanne Balmer, Chief Executive Officer at Oakland Care, who will tell us about her organisation’s experience of land diversification especially with the view to sustainable usage.

The webinar will also include a Q&A session with Rob, Joanne and Julia Pound, head of Natural Capital team for Savills, who has a particular focus in helping landowners navigate the world of nutrient neutrality and biodiversity net gain.
