Preventing and managing aggressive behaviour

We're consulting on updated guidance on preventing and managing aggressive behaviour in people receiving NHS or social care. The draft guidance covers primary, secondary and community care settings. It outlines practical steps organisations can take to create safer environments, reduce the risk of aggression and respond effectively when incidents occur. The consultation is open until 5pm on Wednesday 16 September 2026.

Yvette Cooper announces faster access to care for people with motor neurone disease

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Yvette Cooper, has explained a new fast-track care pathway will be made available for people with motor neurone disease (MND).  The service will provide a more joined-up, person-centred approach to care, reducing the need for people to navigate multiple services. This approach aligns with recommendations within our guideline on the assessment and management of MND to provide multidisciplinary team support to those diagnosed.
