Digital Switchover
This is a reminder that if you have any systems within your building that currently operate on analogue, you must make a switch to digital by January 2027. This might be things like CCTV, door entry systems, alarm systems and intercoms. Below are links to some resources that may help you.
The UK is transitioning from analogue landlines to digital phone systems.
For those using personal emergency alarms (telecare/telealarm) that rely on landlines, this switch may cause devices to stop working.
To ensure your alarm continues to protect you or your loved ones, please take action now by contacting your:
Alarm provider
Phone company
Local council
Why It Matters
By January 2027, the analogue landline network that has connected homes and businesses for decades will be switched off. This network, known as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), is becoming fragile, less reliable and harder to maintain.
To keep the country connected, phone companies are moving everyone onto modern digital services. For most people, this change will feel seamless.
However, some people rely on telecare alarms to stay safe and independent. These alarms may not work properly on digital phone lines without checks or updates. That is why it is vital to give extra attention and support, so that alarms continue to provide the protection and peace of mind people depend on.
About This Hub
This hub has been created to provide the TEC sector with digital assets to support the analogue-to-digital switchover. Currently available resources include:
A2 and A3 posters
Social media graphics in various sizes, ready to use
Materials designed to be shared with your communities, staff, or networks
These assets are ready to download and use now to help communicate the switchover clearly and consistently.
By using these resources, we can help keep people safe, connected and informed throughout the digital transition.
