Campaign Launch | It's Time To Care About Care
Care About Care – the major new campaign to put social care at the heart of the national conversation – has officially launched. This is a campaign that argues social care is not a safety net for the few, but a service every family will rely on, and one of the largest sectors in the British economy. It's vital to all of us.
It challenges politicians to rethink the value of the sector and to see how investing in social care is an investment in families, communities, and the future of the country.
Now we need to make it impossible for politicians to ignore.
Three things to do today
Visit the campaign website. Take a look at careaboutcare.org. Read the case we're making. Share what resonates with your networks.
Write to your MP in under 30 seconds. It takes under a minute to write to your MP via the campaign website. You simply enter your postcode, add your name, and click send – that’s it! MPs notice when their constituents write to them, and we’re aiming to send tens of thousands of letters in the coming weeks. The more letters they receive, the harder it is to dismiss this campaign.
Bring people with you. This is the most important ask, and the one only you can do. The strength of this campaign depends on it being more than a sector campaign. It needs to be a public movement – and the most powerful voices are the people who use care services, their families, people who work in care, and the communities we collectively serve.
We need as many people as possible to use the website and spend just one minute sending a letter to their MP. It couldn’t be simpler to do.
Tell your friends, your neighbours, and your local networks. Care touches every family. Most people don't realise it until they need it – your job is to help them realise it now, while their voice can still make a difference.
Talk to the people you support and their families about the campaign. Share the website. Help them understand why their voice matters.
Get your teams on board. Care workers are the heart of this campaign, and one of our major demands is to get Government backing to increase care worker pay.
A campaign supporter pack will be available in the coming days to help everyone spread the word, with posters for breakrooms and templates for talking to the people you support, team members, and families. Look out for that email.
