CPA update: ASCNB member fees confirmed following sector representations

The Care Provider Alliance welcomes an important update for anyone considering applying to represent employers in the Adult Social Care Negotiating Body.

Following representations from the Care Provider Alliance, representative bodies and providers, DHSC has confirmed that Ministers have agreed funding for ASCNB members to claim a fee for participation in negotiation days. For the employer side, this means the 11 representatives appointed to the ASCNB can claim up to £300 per day, in addition to other expenses such as travel.

The CPA has been clear that employer representation must reflect the breadth of adult social care. Concerns about the cost, backfill and capacity involved in releasing people to participate have been raised with DHSC, particularly for smaller providers.

The fee will not be automatic and the ASCNB secretariat will confirm the claims process once members have been appointed. DHSC has confirmed that, on the employer side, the fee applies to the 11 appointed ASCNB representatives only.

The CPA welcomes the change and is pleased these concerns have been heard.

If the time and financial commitment has previously made you question whether you could take part, please look again.
