Long Lies Study (NIHR158676) - SWAS region

A team at the University of Sheffield, working with Yorkshire Ambulance Service on an NIHR-funded study, are exploring the scale, impact, and care pathways linked to long lies – when individuals fall and remain on the floor, unable to get up. Despite the serious potential consequences (e.g. hypothermia, dehydration, pressure injuries), this remains an under-researched area.

They are currently looking to speak with Care Home Managers and frontline care staff in the South West region to understand what policies or practices are in place to help manage and reduce the risks associated with long lies.

See attached for a lay summary, poster and participant information sheet with further details. Interviews are brief and flexible, and participants receive a £25 shopping voucher and a CPD certificate as thanks for their time.
