New funding scheme available

Physical activity funding scheme for North Somerset workplaces

A new funding scheme has just been launched to support North Somerset workplaces introduce physical activity interventions into their workplace. The aim is to encourage staff to become more active and break up their working day, to help improve their overall health and wellbeing, and have some fun.

Employers have the chance to consult with staff about which kinds of activities could be possible and then apply for a grant of up to £250 to help implement their chosen activity. It is a great opportunity for workplaces to show their staff that they are committed to staff health and wellbeing.

There is a resource pack on our Healthy Workplace website with plenty of ideas for inclusive physical activities, including ideas for those with long term health conditions. For example, funding may be spent on equipment such as weights or exercise mats, or it could pay for an instructor to teach group sessions. The level of activity is your choice, but the scheme hopes to encourage sustainable physical activity programmes that can continue to promote moderate physical activity of 150 minutes per week in line with current recommendations.

To be eligible for this funding, workplaces need to be in North Somerset, and we are welcoming small to medium sized businesses with less than 250 staff, along with all public sector and charity workplaces. Please see the website for full eligibility criteria.

The application process is open from 2 April to 30 April, by completion of this application form. Successful applications will be announced on 12 May, and the programme will run until 12 October. We will then evaluate the scheme and celebrate some of your success stories at the annual Healthy Workplaces Award Event on 18 November.
