NCF Member Briefing 7.7.23

Policy and Public Affairs Network

On Tuesday 11th July between 3pm-4pm NCF will be running the first meeting of the new Policy and Public Affairs Network.

During our first session we will be joined by Jane Cox, Director of Principle Consulting and her colleague, Laura Pascal. They will share:

  • The latest intel on the manifesto development process & timelines for each of the main parties

  • Top tips for engaging with local MPs

  • Guidance for staying within the Electoral Commission regulations on lobbying ahead of a General Election

We will also have some time to talk through the aims of the network, frequency of meetings, and some time to raise emerging issues, shared priorities and understand the various campaigns happening across the membership.

Please email me if you haven’t had an invite and would like to join the call.

CQC’s approach to assessing environmental sustainability

CQC’s new single assessment framework includes an environmental sustainability quality statement. This quality statement, under well-led, will look at how providers are considering their overall carbon footprint and how they are acting to reduce it.

They have launched a survey in order to allow providers share their understanding and experience of incorporating environmental sustainability into services and will be used to shape the regulatory approach. The survey can be accessed here.

NCF is currently exploring what resources need to be put in place to support members on their sustainability journeys. We hope to be able to circulate several helpful resources later this year.

SASCI Project Survey

What does the adult social care sector need to become more innovative? What can policy makers, stakeholders and people working in the sector do to support and promote innovation? Do you have an innovation you are proud of and would like to showcase?

This survey is the first comprehensive survey of innovation in the ASC sector. It is part of the Supporting Adult Social Care Innovation project (https://www.sasciproject.uk/), which is studying innovation in adult social care and how it can best be supported.

They want to hear from people working in organisations that have successfully innovated, those that have struggled and those for whom innovation is not part of normal practice. They are keen to hear from people in strategic and operational management roles but if you have an opinion on how your organisation innovates this survey is for you too.

The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Please complete the Adult Social Care Innovation Survey 2023 here: https://lse.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dmcY87gvqJs2mR8
