Provider Market Sustainability Planning Support to Councils
Repost from the Care Povider Alliance:
The Care Provider Alliance (CPA) was engaged by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), to support provider engagement in the FCoC process, for both homecare and care homes.
The primary concern leading to both non-engagement in the FCoC process and the scepticism surrounding its impact has related to the data collected not being representative of the past or the required future state, to sustain the workforce and the sector and to address the impact of rising energy and agency costs, as well as rising inflation.
The CPA were tasked by provider members to produce this document for councils to consider ahead of finalising their Market Sustainability Plans. The Plans are intended to take a longer-term view of provision and costs into the future, and Cost of Care reporting process to evidence how the data needs to be reviewed and considered for it to be truly representative for the future, under the following key headings: ·Workforce ·Energy/Fuel ·Inflation ·Return on Operations and Return on Capital ·The Built Environment.
This document was shared with local authorities at the beginning of September for cascade within their organisations and published to the CPA website with the aim that it would hopefully help local authorities to understand wider provider perspectives, evidenced by additional data collected outside of the FCoC process.
