'What is a DPO and Do I Need One?' Webinar & Data Security Protection Lead roles

In order to meet the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards, social care organisations are strongly encouraged to have someone who is responsible for data security and protection, and who will champion the principles of good data protection. This person is called a Data Security and Protection Lead.

Skills for Care and the Institute for Public Care (IPC) as part of the Better Security, Better Care Programme, ran online webinars for providers of adult social care to highlight and explain this new role being introduced into the sector, in Autumn 2021.  A recording is now available here:

We would also like to highlight the links to the Job description and also Data Security and Protection: roles and responsibilities contained within the link above.

This link will also give guidance on the Job description of the Data Security and Protection Lead https://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Documents/Topics/Digital-working/The-role-of-the-Data-Security-and-Protection-Lead.pdf

and also a short guide to Data Security and Protection: roles and responsibilities to help you decide if you should introduce this role into your workplace?  Data Security and Protection Responsibilities - Digital Social Care

There is also a link to a webinar called What is a DPO and Do I need one which some may find useful. (Please note there is a vast difference between the DSP Lead role and the DPO role)
