Newcastle University Survey of Homecare Providers

Newcastle University are working with researchers from within the University and the University of York who together form the 'DACHA-DOM' research team. The project is funded by National Institute of Health and Care Research and is focused on understanding the feasibility of implementing a ‘minimum data set in homecare’. This represents a system of standardised data collection that could be used to evaluate the support needs of local populations over time, inform resource allocation and monitor quality.

As a first step in this process, Newcastle University are conducting a survey of homecare providers to ask about how they collect data on clients, what data they collect, how they store and share the data, barriers to data collection and how they would feel about contributing to a minimum data set.

The link to the survey is here and includes information on the purpose of the study and how the data collected will be used (also attached here as a PDF).

The survey takes no more than 15 minutes to complete and runs until 9th December.

Care Management Matters ran a piece on the survey launch which covers how the survey links to the programme of work being undertaken by the programme of work on the digitalisation of social care being undertaken by NHS Digital and DHSC.
