Uber Medics: A new transport service for the care sector
As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 response with the crisis impacting the care system globally, UBER is committing to support communities through the Covid-19 crisis. You can read more about this HERE.
The Uber Medics service is a new dedicated product which allows the care sector to provide a safe, reliable and efficient way for care workers to travel to and from their place of work.
With growing transport pressure and reduced services, they recognise the fundamental challenge our sector faces to ensure that the most critical, frontline workforce can continue to travel safely during the COVID-19 crisis. Transport may be needed at any time and should involve minimal interpersonal contact.
Launching on April 29th, Uber Medics allows care organisations to benefit from:
25% off every ride until 25th July 2020 - only the driver receives payment for these trips. Uber will not make any money on these rides.
A centralised solution for care organisations - care workers won't have to pay for their rides as it will be charged at an organisation level. There are other options available for payment of rides.
A safe, reliable and efficient way to get care workers to and from work.
All drivers will be able to choose if they take Uber Medic trips. By providing their consent, all drivers agree to wear masks and other PPE equipment, as well as sanitising their car after every trip. This goes over and above the current government advice for PPE in terms of private hire vehicles.
Easy and seamless setup
Uber Medics takes minutes to set up and requires minimal resources to roll out across your organisation. To ensure an easy and seamless setup Uber has committed to provide a dedicated team to get accounts within the care sector up and running (providing coverage is available) so that you are all able to focus on your most vital work during this period.
