Policy Updates 29th August 2022

The following policy updates have been curated from the week commencing 29th August 2022.

Letter about launch of COVID-19 Autumn Booster and Flu Vaccination Programme

DHSC has published a letter about the launch of the COVID-19 Autumn Booster and Flu Vaccination programme. Download the letter here.

The letter confirms that the booster campaign will begin on 12 September. However, NHS roving teams will begin visiting care homes from 5 September. Vaccination teams will contact providers in advance to arrange visits, and care home staff should now commence the consenting process for residents, if not already done so. Teams will be prioritising residents on site and may vaccinate staff where possible. Staff are encouraged to book online or find a walk-in centre instead.

Energy Costs

As circulated last week, we are asking members to keep us updated on the impact of the costs of rising inflation and energy costs on operations and the people you support. We have created a very short survey (6 questions) to try and capture some of the rising costs and their implications: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/8MRJMF3 - closes 7 September.

Here is the template letter for MPs.

Update from the NHS Transformation Directorate for social care providers impacted by the Advanced system outage

Further to our recent update on the Digital Social Care Website covering the cyber attack which has affected systems provided by Advanced, a third party software supplier, we have now developed some guidance for any affected social care providers relating to information governance (IG) issues and concerns.

This guidance is available here and includes information on who any affected providers can contact for further support together with communications advice.

In addition, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) have provided further information about reporting the breach. This is available here.

We will ensure we keep you fully informed as soon as any more relevant information comes to light.
