PowerHour: The Blood Enquiry – Background, Update, Consequences
Tue 26 Mar 2024 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
The Contaminated Blood Scandal in the United Kingdom arose when at least 3,891 people, most of whom suffered from haemophilia, became infected with hepatitis C of whom 1,243 were also infected with HIV, the virus that leads to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), as a result of receiving contaminated clotting factor products supplied by the National Health Service (NHS) in the 1970s and 1980s.
The inquiry into the Blood Scandal found that it could have been prevented, and the history and issues arising from the contaminated blood scandal should be a required part of the syllabus for undergraduate medical and nursing training.
We will be joined by Professor Brian Edwards, Emeritus Professor of Healthcare Development to discuss the Blood Inquiry, including the background, a current update and the consequences involved.

Wed 3 Apr 2024 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM BST
Online, Microsoft Teams
Join Claire Mould, Director of Curve Strategic for this workshop as we explore establishing and nurturing an Emotional Intelligent Team, addressing the 5Cs Framework: Clarity; Cohesion; Compassion; Connectivity; Communication
Summary:
This session will discuss what an emotionally intelligent team is, and how this differs from a team that is simply just functioning (and definitely an underperforming or dysfunctional team).
It will outline how establishing and nurturing an emotionally intelligent team will enhance the productivity and effectiveness of the team, and therefore the organisation as a whole.
The session will detail what an emotionally intelligent team looks like, why it is so effective, how this can be achieved and the positive impact this has in the workplace.
It will provide examples of this in practice and prompts for how emotional intelligence can be embedded into teams, explaining the critical importance of introducing the 5C’s framework (clarity, coherence, connectivity, communication and compassion) to organisational monitoring and evaluating, and employees’ professional development review.
