INFORMATION - RED Met Office warning and Heat-Health alert

 

The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms in the South West, valid from Friday 26th June 00:00 to Friday 26th June 10:00am. For full details, see the attached email.

Due to the nature of the weather and the number/range of warnings in place, I thought it would be useful to summarise all the warning and alerts upcoming and currently in place.  

UKHSA Heat Health Alerts

  • RED, currently in place until 23:00 on 26/06/2026.

Met Office Weather Warnings

  • RED for extreme heat, currently in place until 23:59 on 25/06/23

  • YELLOW for thunderstorms from Friday 26th June 00:00 to Friday 26th June 10:00am

The EMU will continue to monitor all alerts and warnings received and will cascade updates and changes to the forecast. We have activated the Severe Weather Co-ordination Group and our next meeting is at 12:00 today, please raise any Business Continuity issues to the EMU (emu@n-somerset.gov.uk) to allow us to consider these at the next meeting.
