Adult Social Care Resilience Survey
The Care Provider Alliance (CPA) is working with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to understand how global events, including ongoing developments in the Middle East, are affecting the financial and operational resilience of adult social care providers.
With energy, fuel and other operating costs continuing to place pressure on the sector, we are keen to understand what these developments mean for the cost of delivering care, provider sustainability and the commissioning arrangements that underpin local services.
In May, providers helped establish an important baseline through our first Resilience Survey. As we approach winter, DHSC has asked us to repeat the exercise to assess how pressures have changed and ensure that Government has up-to-date evidence of the challenges facing providers.
We would be grateful if local authorities could support this work by sharing the survey with commissioned providers, local provider forums and wider care networks, encouraging as many organisations as possible to respond.
The survey explores:
Changes in energy, fuel and transport costs.
Wider operational and supply chain pressures.
The impact of rising costs on staffing, travel and service delivery.
Whether additional cost pressures are affecting provider sustainability.
Provider's can complete the survey here: https://dhsc.jaguarcomputers.co.uk/register
The findings will help build a clearer picture of the pressures facing providers across different parts of the country and inform discussions with DHSC about sector resilience. They will also provide important evidence of how changes in operating costs may affect local care markets, including providers' ability to maintain capacity, deliver existing packages of care and respond to future demand.
We recognise the significant financial pressures facing local authorities themselves, and the difficult decisions councils continue to navigate when balancing available resources against growing demand for care and support. This exercise is intended to strengthen the shared evidence base, helping ensure that the financial and operational challenges affecting local care markets are properly understood at national level.
It is important that providers respond even where they are not currently experiencing significant pressures. Understanding where costs are stable, as well as where they are increasing, will help us provide Government with a more accurate and representative picture of the sector.
Please note that providers will need to register and select their primary care association before accessing the survey. Those who are not members of an association can select "I am not part of a care association". Registration allows responses to be compared across different survey rounds.
This is an official Care Provider Alliance survey undertaken for DHSC and hosted on the Jaguar Computers platform. Survey data will be shared with DHSC in anonymised form and, where applicable, with the provider's care association to support monitoring and resilience planning.
