New Recruitment Rules for International Care Workers from 9th April 2025

As many of you will already be aware, new Home Office rules come into force on Wednesday 9th April 2025, requiring care providers to prioritise the recruitment of international care workers who are already in England before seeking candidates from overseas.

What This Means for You

From 9th April onwards, if you are looking to recruit sponsored workers, you must first contact the South West regional partnership at:

📧 commissioning.swadass@swcouncils.gov.uk

The partnership will liaise with local authorities to check for a local pool of displaced workers. If such a pool exists, you’ll be provided with details and are expected to reach out to and assess these individuals for suitability.

If there is no local pool, the regional partnership will confirm to the UKVI that you’ve attempted to recruit from within England, allowing you to proceed with recruitment from overseas.

If you do approach the local pool but find that none are suitable, you must inform the regional partnership, and you should then be permitted to continue with overseas recruitment.

Please Bear With Us

This new process has been developed at short notice, and while local councils and the regional partnership are working hard to get everything in place, there may be a few teething problems. If you encounter any issues or have queries, please get in touch with the scheme immediately. We’re here to support you and can liaise with the relevant organisations on your behalf.
