Professor Vic Rayner to provide adult social care expertise in the review of the Single Assessment Framework

Professor Vic Rayner OBE has agreed to work alongside Professor Sir Mike Richards on his review of the single assessment framework and its implementation.

Vic is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Care Forum, a membership organisation for not-for-profit organisations in the care and support sector. She is also Chair of the Care Provider Alliance, an organisation bringing together the 10 main national associations which represent independent adult social care providers in England. As such, she has considerable knowledge and experience in adult social care to supplement Sir Mike’s expertise in secondary care.

Vic will be focusing on giving an operational perspective on the single assessment framework through an external care provider viewpoint. Working in a co-productive way with providers and members of the Care Provider Alliance, she will explore aspects such as how the approach works, how it is operating, and how providers are experiencing the process. She will also give a view on any changes that providers would like to see. Her full findings will contribute to Sir Mike’s final report, and she will share interim findings ahead of this.

Our assessment framework will remain focused on what matters to people as we consider what improvements we need to make to enable us to be most effective in continuing to drive improvements to the quality of care people receive.
