Adult Social Care Training and Development fund
I am sure you will be aware by now that there have been changes to the Department of Health and Social Care’s workforce reform programme following a Written Ministerial Statement on 30 July 2024.
This outlines the decision not to continue with the launch of the Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund proposed by the last Government. This follows the Chancellor’s announcements about the public finances and a requirement for all Departments to provide in year savings.
Statement from DHSC
“We know this news will be disappointing and DHSC would like to assure the sector that we are committed in our support for the adult social care workforce.
Whilst the Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund will not be taken forward, we still intend to provide funding to support the learning and development of the adult social care workforce. This funding will be at the same level as in previous years. Further details about how and when this funding will be administered will be shared in due course.”
Skills for Care were disappointed to hear the announcement about the Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund. Of course, we've offered to support the Government in any way we can to ensure the sector can access the promised continuing funding as quickly as possible. Skills for Care wasn't due to be administering the new fund and we weren't involved in the decision - so any questions about the announcement are best directed to DHSC at ascreimbursement@dhsc.gov.uk.
