Public perceptions of health and social care (November 2023)
The fifth wave of results from the Health Foundation programme of UK-wide public polling delivered in partnership with Ipsos.
The results show:
The public's favoured option on funding is to increase taxes in order to maintain the level of spending needed to keep the current level of care and services provided by the NHS.
The public think social care workers are paid too little and support various measures to increase pay, though they think the current funding approach for social care is unfair.

Brits urged to fill ‘migrant job’ gap – Good Morning Britain
In an interview on Good Morning Britain about the recent announcement from the Department of Work and Pensions, Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England says “being a care worker is certainly a vocation, and nobody who doesn’t have the right values or indeed wants to do the job should be forced into it.” You can watch the interview here. Care England also issued a press statement suggesting the proposed 'skills boot camps' to boost domestic employment will do little to reassure care providers in the face of a recruitment and retention crisis.
