CQC Updates - Public Engagement Strategy and PEOPLE FIRST survey

Public Engagement Strategy

On the 21st June, the CQC published a new strategy for how they will engage with people and with organisations that represent people.

The new strategy supports their organisational strategy published in 2021 and sets out how they will listen, inform and involve people and work in partnership with the organisations that represent people.

The new strategy will run to 2026 and has four objectives:

  • Build a trusted feedback service where people’s experiences drive improvements in care

  • Create a trusted, accessible public information service designed around people’s expectations and needs

  • Develop an inclusive approach to proactively involving people who use services, their family, carers and organisations that represent or act on their behalf in shaping our plans, policies and products

  • Work in partnership with organisations that represent or act on behalf of people who use services to improve care

You can read more in their latest news story.

PEOPLE FIRST survey

To Note: This survey is open to everyone to see and take part, but is aimed primarily at professionals working in health and care providers, integrated care systems/boards/partnerships or local authorities.

Earlier this year the CQC published PEOPLE FIRST, an online resource designed to help system leaders and service providers in the design of person-centred urgent and emergency care services. They also hope it will help encourage innovation across integrated care systems.

The CQC would like to understand the awareness and application of PEOPLE FIRST. Even if you haven't heard of, or used PEOPLE FIRST, they would like you to take the survey.

Unless you indicate you are happy to be contacted at the end of this survey, answers are anonymous. Findings will be used to help evaluate and improve PEOPLE FIRST and may be referenced in this year's State of Care report.
