Cyber security awareness month – October

NHS Digital is highlighting the programme in their content for Cyber Security Awareness Month, and each week will be sharing a new story about cyber security. We will share these with you so that you can, in turn share with your colleagues. And please remember you can download and use all of the Keep IT Confidential social care resources which have been developed with Digital Social Care.

Our plan for the month:

  • W/c 3 Oct – Cyber security – It’s not all about you –Blog/article on NHS Digital and/or DSC website. The focus is on raising awareness of supply chain issues. Wherever you are on that chain, an attack on your system can affect others. Plus you are responsible for checking that your own suppliers are meeting good cyber security standards. We will be highlighting some of the messages in guidance about suppliers.

  • w/c 10 Oct – Cyber security is a business continuity issue – news item on DSC website

  • w/c 17 Oct – Cyber attack case study (anon case study)

  • w/c 24 Oct - Top tips inc passwords (we will update DSC guidance on passwords)

We are also exploring launch options for our report on the views of people who draw on services and their unpaid carers about data protection. That may slip into November but we will keep you updated.
