Carers Moving In Keeps Covid Out

We want to share this fabulous idea that C&SW member Ridgeway House has sent us:

Reducing the people traffic in a residential care setting DRAMATICALLY reduces the risk of spreading the virus to the vulnerable residents and the staff that support them.

In an attempt to keep the virus from our door. Our wonderful carers are moving in for 7 day shifts and our managers, maintenance staff and visitors are moving out.

We realised we usually have at least 11 people a day entering and leaving the house at different times. With our CARERS IN : COVID OUT method of working we have reduced this to just 1 person coming in from outside every day (night staff). From 11 to 1 !! we think that’s brilliant.

Remember “The virus doesn’t move, we move the virus”

When the 7 days is up, another set of people take over and so on until everyone has moved in for 7 days and the cycle begins again. When the new group move in they test their temperature and answer safety questions before starting work to make sure they are symptom free.

We haven’t had to deal with any short notice staff sickness/isolation which we know other homes are already struggling to deal with. In fact, some staff have completed self-isolation before its even time for them to come back to work.

This works for us, we are so proud of our carers and touched by their dedication to our vulnerable residents, we know your team is fantastic too……could this work for your setting too? Got to be worth a shot

Please help us spread the word, this simple idea could really help so many people, Facebook moves faster than the virus….lets get CARERS IN COVID OUT up and down the country quickly.
Thank you
