AWARD WINNING CARE WORKER FROM ABLECARE HOMES

The winner of the South Gloucestershire Care Home Worker of the Year Award is Gabrielle Sheard from AbleCare Homes’ Frenchay House.

Nominations for South Gloucestershire’s Care and Support Awards closed on 14 December. Over 100 nominations were received.  A ceremony took place on 23 March 2016 where the dedication of all of the finalists was celebrated.

The awards seek to recognise the dedication and contribution of care and support workers who have gone the extra mile to provide high quality care so that the people they help can lead the lives they want to live.

Gabrielle received four nominations, each recognising Gabrielle’s caring nature, empathy and ability to provide emotional support for residents. Nominator Shirley Hiscox said: “She sits and listens to me. She really cares for the other residents. When I lost my husband she supported me and was always comforting me when I got upset she sat and listened to me.”

Home Manager Leanne Thorne collected certificates to not only recognise the achievement of Gabby but also Elaine Clay and Mary Shortman who received nominations from those who they provide care and support to.
