Following the tragic death by suicide of a person living in a local care home earlier this year (2021), North Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board identified that there is a national and global lack of research or policy guidance in reference to such events in care homes.

In response, NSSAB offer this improving practice briefing as brief read to assist providers’ practice and confidence, with the intention of preventing deaths.

Please take 5 minutes to consider these recommendations and familiarise yourself with the suggested resources and share this with relevant colleagues.

This will also be made available on the board website www.nssab.co.uk for future reference.
